How we got to the point of thinking physical activity doesn’t count as a workout unless you get to a gym is a mystery to me. Call it health club marketing, or fitness industry propaganda, but it’s a myth that you have to follow some predetermined workout regimen to get fit.
Today’s work out of the day is a non traditional outdoor adventure the backyard. Yep, I’m doing yard work and believe you me, it’s a workout!
My husband came home from an early morning trip to Lowes with a truck full of mulch, dirt, and plants. He’s obsessed with the yard at our house, and I love him for it! Somehow though, I’m the “one with muscles” who gets to unload it all.
My garden is getting some attention as well this afternoon! My Zucchini plants are huge but the weeds are growing too.
Most importantly though, we are taking as many breaks as possible. It’s a sunny 91 degrees this afternoon in Florida, so it’s smart to get in the shade and rehydrate. I’ve been drinking a tasty tumbler of iced and diluted coconut water lately to quench my thirst.
Just because you don’t run or have a gym membership doesn’t mean you can’t get fit!
What are you doing to break a sweat today?

Yesterday I loaded and unloaded food to be delivered from ElderPoint Ministries to Lakeview Apartments and Presbyterian Homes. It is funny that I constantly get asked “Are you sure that isn’t too heavy for you?”. Thanks to work, I can say “no”. I guess people think that because I am skinny. I can only lift a loaf of bread. lol Anyway….Not only did I get a little bit of a workout, but I got the satisfaction of helping people less fortunate than myself.
That’s awesome Lori!
WOW look at you doing yardwork! This is very good exercise especially being out in the sun. The SAT workouts have been cancelled untilled further notice. I have to have surgery on Sat and do not know how long to recovery is going to be. I want to put the workouts on MeetUP once I am up and running again. It should def get more people out and we can do some fun team workouts!
