It’s August #Foodiepenpals Reveal Day!

This month, my foodiepenpal was Monique who blogs at I Are The Food Snob, and her package came to me all the way from New York!

This was a very interesting package with a lot of new to me food!

I received a bag of bulgar wheat, which is a healthy whole grain that cooks up a lot like couscous, a container of coconut oil, that I’ve heard so much about but never been brave enough to buy for myself, homemade blueberry ketchup plus the recipe, and some New York bodega candies that my husband stole for himself!

Wait a minute. Did I say Blueberry Ketchup!? Yep. This beautiful jar of home made effort was certainly my most interesting foodiepenpals item ever!

Let me first say that I appreciate the effort, and the concept! I love blueberries! And I love ketchup! But unfortunately this combination just confused the heck out of my taste buds! I think, for me, it was the vinegar that made me dislike it. I’m sorry Monique! I tried! Thank you so much Monique for being my foodiepenpal this month!

I love foodiepenpals because you never know what you’ll get from a stranger across the country. And seriously? Who doesn’t love getting mail!?

This month I sent my package to the sweetest momma in Alabama who’s training for a marathon and kicking butt along the way! Her blog is so fun and motivating. Check out miss Mindy Bobe and the goodies I sent her on her blog Road Runner Girl !

Big thanks to Lindsay, The Lean Green Bean, for making foodiepenpals happen! She blogs at theleangreenbean.com where you can read more about this awesome program and sign up to participate too!

My Foodiepenpal for July!

I am beyond excited to share this with you today! I’ve been enjoying a box of goodies from a stranger in California for weeks now, but per the rules, reveal day is always at the end of the month!

This is my first month of Foodiepenpals, an awesome program developed by Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean Blog.

Tasha, who goes by the name Star Golden and blogs here at The All Things Chocolate Blog, sent me an amazing box of tasty treats this month.

Tasha managed to send me all kinds of things I had never tried. She shopped at Whole Foods to find me some healthy raw and vegan snacks, along with a super cute reusable grocery bag. She also sent me some local raw honey and homemade Apple Butter! Tasha even knew I recently started a backyard garden, so she included a “Heirloom” gardening magazine that had great tips and recipes!

My favorite item had to be the Local Apple Butter. Talk about indulgent! It was fantastic on a sweet potato! It’s so good I’m having to make sure my husband doesn’t steal it all!

These Coconut Pineapple Macadamia Nut ‘Snackaroons’ were super delicious too!

And lastly, I really enjoyed the Raw Revolution Golden Cashew Bar as part of a preworkout meal along with coffee and a banana.

Thank you so much Tasha! Please read her blog All Things Chocolate and see what she got from her foodiepenpal this month!

One of the coolest things about foodiepenpals is that although I received a box from Tasha, I got to send a box to someone totally different.

I was matched up with Gabbie who blogs at Nuts about Nutrition and today she will be reviewing the goodies I sent her!

Sounds awesome, doesn’t it!? You can sign up to participate in Foodiepenpals by clicking here.
